Today has been a tough day for Momma Tinch. No, nothing major has happened, in fact I feel bad even mentioning my day when there was a tornado that affected parts of the Midwest but, one of the purposes of having a blog is to have an outlet to whine, right?! Glad you agree!
It's Nolan. He has been incredibly grumpy the past few days. In fact, he has been downright demanding. More tantrums the last few days than his entire life combined! I realize up until now, there really haven't been many tantrums, and maybe that's the problem, since we haven't had to deal with them, we have no idea how to deal with them (as always, comments and suggestions are welcome)!!! I am hoping this can all be attributed to a growth spurt, the child is simply not consolable unless he's eating. Anyway, days like these are tough for a Momma, especially when it is nasty outside and we can't get out of the house! On days like these I am thankful for friends who are always supportive, have been in my shoes, offer advise, and a light at the end of the tunnel! I am also thankful for my husband who told me it was okay to open a bottle of wine before he got home! Cheers-to a better day tomorrow!!

I stand corrected!
Nolan now rolls over, from belly to back. He did it for the first time yesterday and every time he's been placed on his belly since then! I thought he would be shocked the first time he did it, but no, in typical Nolan fashion he acted like it was no big deal and that he could have been doing it since birth!
Rolling over is a milestone in his development, and we knew to be looking for it around 3-4 months, but it's really funny how much we wanted to "help" him roll. He would get so close and then fall back to his belly and find his delicious hand again and we would urge him to try again or show him just how it's done! I know this urge to "help" him learn things faster or develop quicker or grow up sooner will continue as he gets older. I hope we have the patience to wait for him to be ready and learn these life lessons on his own, it really is the best way to learn things for life-besides, we really aren't in a hurry for him to grow up!

Work
I have to return to work soon. It's been on my mind a lot lately. Before Nolan, I never thought I would want to be a stay at home mom. I like to work, and I really like my job. But now that he is here and literally changes daily, I can definately understand the urge to stay home! However, March 19th, like it or not I will be back to work, for my first 12 hour shift in a long time (hope I still know what I'm doing)! As jobs go mine is a great one to return to though! I am so thankful, I love the patients and families I care for and really love the people I get to work with everyday! Plus, I am able to work only three days one week and two days the next week and still bring home a full-time paycheck! What other job can say that?! That means I can still be home with Nolan 4 to 5 full days a week! I know the transition will be difficult, but I think it will be worth it!
3 months!
I should probably pick a time increment and stick to it, months or weeks, but for now we can celebrate both! Someone is 3 months old! Check out what we've been up to:

12 weeks
Nolan is 12 weeks old today! He continues to grow so fast and I swear he does something different everyday! Here are some stats:
Estimated Weight- 13lbs 10ounces
Estimated Length- 24 inches
Diaper size- just graduated to size 2
Clothes size- mostly 3 months or 3-6 months
Eye Color as of today- still blue, dark blue
Hair Color as of today- still has a little mullet and it looks darker everyday, so brown
Food- Eats 5-6 times a day
Sleep- Sleeps 8-9.5 hours at night!!!! Naps three times a day, morning, afternoon, and early evening. (We love the Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child book! We don't do everything by the book but have adapted the main principles and we and he couldn't be happier! Preggo readers: get the book!)
His loves these days- loves to look at faces (Mom and Dad's faces are favorites), including his own in mirrors. Loves to listen to music and "sing" with his Mom. Loves to be moving/playing on the floor. His belly, back, side, he doesn't care as long as he's moving. Lately he's decided he's pretty big and likes to be sitting upright or standing (with support) on the couch or chair with Mom and Dad. Here are some pics I took this week:

Happy Valentine's Day!
Well, Happy Belated Valentine's Day! Eric and I don't make a big deal of Valentine's Day, no gifts, we just like to hang out together, really about the same as any other night except we normally cook something fancy! This year was no different! Check out the menu:
For those of you who know us well, you know that Eric does most of the cooking around here. He loves to cook and he's really good at it, MUCH more creative than your truly. However, with me at home these last few months, I have been cooking lots more. For V-day, I was in charge of the wedge and the soup, and Eric made the rest, everything was soooooo good! Happy Valentine's Day!!!

5AM
Nolan slept til 5am! I know what you are all thinking- "5am! That sounds horrible, you can't be excited about 5am!" Well, I am! I am excited because he went to bed at 730pm...that's 9.5 hours of sleep!!! Do you realize if Eric and I would have went to bed at 730, we would have gotten 9.5 hours of sleep too?! We didn't, of course, but we went to bed reasonably early; enough so that I feel like a new woman today! This is obviously not an everyday occurrence, he's been sleeping much longer at night and pretty much demanding to be put to bed much earlier in the evening; but in the last week he had his first little cold (which he promptly gave to me!) and kept waking himself up sneezing or coughing, I thought our longer sleep periods were over, but thankfully (and hopefully-fingers crossed) they are back forever!
I know this is the most interesting thing you have read all day! I apologize but, this is my life now! This is what matters to me.... I hope my brain returns to being capable of taking care of sick children, but for now it's mush and that's all I have to offer my blog....again, I apologize.
Side note- I think it may be a bit of a stretch to run (and beat my previous time for) the half-marathon in April. I am finding, I can't do it all and training takes LOTS of time, lots of time away from Nolan. When he was younger, I could just take him in his car seat to the gym and run on the treadmill (not my favorite) and he would sleep. Now that he is more aware of everything, he doesn't sleep at the gym, he's wide awake looking at me wondering why his Momma is interacting more with a rat wheel than him. Thus I take back my very public goal....I still hope to run it or at the very least run/walk it, I just don't think my new record will be set. Maybe next year...
